My professional career is structured in four parts: research, teaching, academic training, work experience and university management.
With respect to research, I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2017. Since 2001, I belong to the Department of computer and communications technology of the University of Extremadura, where I am currently an Assistant Professor and belongs to the Artificial Evolution Research Group (GEA). I have published more than 39 national and international publications, including 10 papers in indexed journal, six of the first quartile (Q1), five in the second quartile (Q2) and one in the third one (Q3). In 4 papers I’m the first author and the second author in other four, h-index 15. I have worked as a researcher in several research projects granted by the Spanish Government being the coordinator of the coordinated projects PID2020-115570GB and PID2023-147409NB and IP in the subprojects PID2020-115570GB-C21 and PID2023-147409NB-C22. I have also worked as a researcher in several research projects granted by the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. I completed a three-month international post-doctoral stay at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria in Portugal.
I regularly collaborate with researchers from other universities, co-publishing some research work. My main lines of research are focused on hardware re-configuration, evolutionary algorithms, massive data processing and machine learning algorithms. Everything applied to real problems.
I have more than 4000 hours of teaching in the LRU study plans, degrees and masters (2 official masters and 2 own masters). I currently teach in the grades of computer engineering, Telematics and also in the official master ‘s innovation technology management. I have participated in 21 teaching innovation projects, many related to the adaptation to the EEES. I have participated in numerous training courses and teaching innovation projects, which reflects my interest in the continuous improvement of my teaching, management and research work.
My work experience and university management. I was member of the Department’s teaching evaluation committee (from 2007-2008 to May 2017), in the central board of the Centro Universitario de Merida (June 2004-june 2008; from 2019 and continuing). During this period, I took part in the delegated commission on economic affairs. I was member of the committees for the elaboration of the Information Technology Engineering Degree (May 2008-july 2009), also in the quality committees for the above-mentioned degree (2009-2013) and for the University Master’s Degree in Electronic Administration. I am member of the board of the Department of Computer and Communications Technology (since february-2017).
